The Instructor: SUSAN JELUS

Susan Jelus is a retired writer of training materials, marketing communications, scripts, online help, and technical manuals. She plays a variety of folk instruments including ukulele, guitar, dulcimer, mandolin, banjo, autoharp, and bowed psaltery. She is an advocate for the healing power of the arts and teaches guitar, ukulele, and mountain dulcimer. She is a student of old-time guitar, Hawaiian, and Irish traditional music, and has led youth choirs, bands, and handbell choirs.

Susan leads jam sessions and sing-a-longs in health care facilities and plays the guitar in the praise band at Aldersgate Church in Brigham City. She is founder of the Logan Mountain Dulcimer group and serves on the Board of the Bridger Folk Music Society where she produces concerts for touring folk musicians.

In addition to music, Susan loves other expressions of creativity such as watercolor painting, nature photography, poetry, and fiction writing. She is also passionate about raising awareness and funding to improve mental health, the environment, and the well-being of women and children.
